AUTOGENIC TRAINING

This is a stress management system which brings about a profound sense of relaxation and
release from stress.  The training consists of a series of simple, easily learnt mental exercises which allow the mind to calm itself by switching off the body's stress response.
 
 
The technique is taught progressively over the course of 10 weeks, with daily practice at home for several minutes, three times a day.
 
Autogenic Training has been applied over a wide range of disorders such as high blood pressure, asthma, irritable bowel syndrome and colitis, athritis and muscular pain/tension syndromes, migraines, tics, tremors and epilepsy, bladder disorders and sexual dysfunction.  Many psychological problems may also be helped like unresolved grief, phobias and anxieties resulting from past traumas, negative childhood influences, eating disorders, acute anxiety and sleep disturbances due to present stress.
 
It is not necessary to be ill to benefit from A.T. - many people take a course to improve their work efficiency, to mobilise creativity, improve sports performance or accelerate inner development.  The technique is used by artists, writers, musicians, olympic athletes, business men, housewives, professional carers, teachers and cab drivers, it was even taught to both the American and Russian astronauts before journeying into space.
